Kri Burkander
Senior Program Associate, DDR and TACSS
Kri Burkander provides coaching and consulting services to the Weikart Center’s clientele, including Michigan’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC), as a coach for the Technical Assistance and Coaching Support Systems (TACSS) initiative. She is also a member of the Development, Demonstration and Replication team and as such is involved in supporting and enhancing all aspects of Weikart Center program improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining the Weikart Center full-time in September 2008, Kri had fifteen years of youth development experience that included work in out-of-school time, clinical outpatient, home-based, Juvenile Justice, and faith-based programs. She came to the Center after four years as the Assistant Director/Teacher at a private school (grades 6-12) for students with learning challenges. She had been working contractually as a field consultant and trainer with the Weikart Center (formerly High/Scope's Youth Development Group) since 2001. She has extensive experience using and training on the Youth Program Quality Assessment tool and the Youth Work Methods, with youth programs across the country.
Kri earned a Masters of Social Work (2000) from the University of Michigan, and her BA in Psychology (1998) from Antioch College.
