Dave Martineau

David J. Martineau is a PhD student at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. His research interests center on critical consciousness development, particularly in terms of membership in privileged and oppressed social identity groups. He is interested in examining how structured interventions can serve to foster critical consciousness development and how that impacts work for social justice. In the field, David has worked with High/Scope Educational Research Foundation in Ypsilanti, Michigan on projects to train, support, and evaluate youth programs. David has coordinated organizational change initiatives and provided consulting services for addressing diversity issues within social service agencies and youth development programs. David served on the advisory board of Break Away, a national nonprofit organization that trains and supports students in coordinating service learning projects on college campuses. Before returning to school, David taught courses on human behavior in the social environment, adolescent development, social change theory, and multicultural practice in the schools of social work at University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and Washington University.
